| Cinco de MAYO |
[May. 5th, 2008|05:16 pm] |
When it comes to liquor I try not to choose favorites. They're like my non existent children, or maybe my cats. But, it being Cinco De Mayo, and have just recently tried this one, I feel like I need to brag about my new love.
Oro Azul Reposado Tequila.

The nose is all cotton candy and fresh agave and lemon. It's super smooth on the palate, almost like a rich custard, and it finishes with grapefruit and spice and toffee. I could sit down and drink half a bottle straight, easily.
Which I have done. |

Didja know that fruit-flies really enjoy "cat grass"?
True (gross) Story.
This is where I spent Christmas.

I ate lots of Black Cake; drank small amounts Cashew Wine; and saw wreckage from one(or more) of the four planes that had crashed in the last year, trying to land at Kaieteur Falls. |

I'm quitting my job next week. I'm a good boy, so I'm giving 4 weeks notice. But my last day there is right before I leave for vacation. When I get back from Guyana I'm not sure what I'll do. I might be moving to Philadelphia or New York or Vancouver, but I'll probably just stay here. I've got some leads at a few different restaurants.
You never know though. |

| MURDERFACE RULES! MURDERFACE! |
[Nov. 3rd, 2007|11:15 am] |
Last night was awesome. I got to go to Berkeley, and stand in line with about 1500 other people to get into a free Dethklok concert. The venue, which was on the UC Berkeley campus, could hold 600 people. I got there an hour before the doors opened and took my place in line. On my way there I passed the Dethklok tour bus which had a huge picture of a kitten on it with "Y IZ I ON TOUR" printed over it. I saw a lot of people in corpsepaint, and a william murderface jack-o-lantern.
I understand safety and all but making people going to a metal concert go through a metal detector is just going to slow things down.
At about 9, after the band that was supposed to be headlining and ended up opening, due to protests from the crowd (Trail of the Dead), finished playing, and I was about 100 people from the front, we were told that they weren't going to let anyone else in. A few people freaked out and got arrested, but most just went on their way, included me.
Alas, Dethklok, it was not meant to be.
Standing in line for three and a half hours with a high fever to see a band that isn't real is the definition of awesome.
This is also awesome, more choirs like this please.

Getting into Trinidad on December 17th. Heading to Georgetown (Guyana) on the 19th. Flying back to Trinidad on the 27th. Spending some time in Tobago. Coming back to SF some time in January (haven't gotten tickets yet).
Two words.
Dengue Fever.
yes....
Here's hoping I'm not held as a hostage in some kind of political violence in Buxton.

I really want to do this overland trek to Kaieteur falls for Christmas, but it's looking like it's going to cost around four thousand dollars, unless I can get 3 other people to join us. So it looks like I'm going to have to settle for Ecuador and the Galapagos. Damn it. I really wanted to see some Harpy Eagles, and Georgetown. |

Did you know that Atlanta is supposedly the fifth greenest city in the US. I find that hard to believe.
How U.S. Cities Rate 15. New York 22. Washington, D.C. 23. Chicago 26. San Francisco 36. Atlanta 43. Denver 46. Houston 55. San Diego 57. Los Angeles 60. Phoenix
but then, when you;ve got L.A. as number 8, maybe it's not so hard.
and there are 25 cities greener than SF? |

Since I've gotten back from New York I've been working 80+ hour weeks. I've also found the time to take a three day camping trip down to Sequoia National Forest (climbed Mitchell Peak), had a romantic getaway in Mendocino with lots of wine tasting, and pick up my new kitten.
As is, I've been working since 8am this morning without a real break, I should finish up in the next hour or so.
Plus side? I've been drunk since about 10am this morning.
or is that the negative side.
Other plus side, did you know that most wineries have guest houses and that you can stay in them for free? Haven't done it yet, but there are about four or five that I'm going to need to hit up. |
